While modern Chanel styles continue to capture the audience, vintage Chanel has captivated us for decades. As the supply of vintage Chanel continues to decrease, the value and demand for these vintage pieces only continues to rise. No longer produced, these rare vintage pieces continue to create a buzz among collectors worldwide. Vintage Chanel will remain a symbol of timeless refinement for ages to come.
Chanel Classic Double Flap
With no surprise, the classic double flap slides into first place as the most popular vintage bag. Often referred to as simply Double Flap or Classic Flap, this bag is the most frequently purchased and most highly sought after bag at Lady Luxe. At any given moment, we have a waiting pool of clients ready to jump on the first opportunity of notification of back in stock. The classic flap has two sizes. Size small classic flap, coming in at 9”x6”x2.5”, and size medium coming in at 10”x6”x3”. Each size comes in both caviar and lambskin leather. Caviar leather remains substantially more expensive than lambskin leather. The classic flap was manufactured in many different colors and materials, including exotic leathers.
Chanel Mini Square
The mini square is one of those rare bags that was originally manufactured to crossbody. Many vintage bags, including the classic flap, were not originally manufactured to accommodate crossbody length. The mini can be worn on the shoulder and crossbody, looking so chic with the perfect amount of chain drop. I am often asked if the mini can accommodate the iPhone, and yes, it can! Some iPhones will need to rest at an angle inside the cavity. The mini comes in two sizes, 17cm and 20cm.
Chanel Jumbo
The logo you see front and center is referred to as “XL CC”, describing the oversized nature of the Chanel logo. This bag is not to be confused with the Maxi. Although they look similar, the jumbo is 30cm and the Maxi is 34cm. The jumbo is a popular request not only for its renowned style but also for its larger size. It is manufactured in ultra-thick leather, allowing for more resistance against scratches and general wear. The chains are thick and heavy, reminiscent of Karl Lagerfeld’s 1980s chunky necklaces. This bag has adjustable grommets, giving it the ability to be worn three ways, on the shoulder with double chain, on the shoulder with single chain drop, or crossbody.
Chanel Diana
Introduced in 1989 under Karl Lagerfeld’s reign, the Diana bag quickly soared in popularity. The Diana remains a pivotal vintage staple to this day, named after and made iconic by the late Princess of Wales. The Diana was among her most carried bags, so much so, that Karl Lagerfeld renamed the bag after Princess Diana. This bag comes in both size small and size medium. Although this bag was reissued and again manufactured in 2015, the vintage Diana is plated in 24k gold, and is much more sought after than the modern reissue style.
